Abstract
The study of transverse shrinkage in butt weld joint M. Iranmanesh, S. Babakoohi Faculty of Shipbuilding and Marine Structural Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Poly technique),Iran. Abstract This research considers transverse shrinkage of two steel plates with identical thickness joined through butt welding. This discussion begins with the introduction of a model in which the thermoelastoplastic zone near to the weld line is simulated with a thermoelastoplastic bar, so is full-elastic zone beyond the weld line with a full-elastic spring; and proposing the physical terms of the model and favorite presumptions, the related equations are solved and eventually the concluded answer is a relation that can be used for calculating the amount of transverse shrinkage with favored accuracy. 1 Introduction When two members with metal structure connect to each other under welding process, transfer of welding arc energy and creation of complex thermal cycle leads to mic
