Abstract
A calculation procedure is herein produced using a macro model to evaluate the shear strength of multi-story precast concrete structural walls. Most precast walls have mortar bedding type horizontal joints, and these joints are expected to slip under seismic shear forces. This paper presents a newly proposed macro model, a comparison between the analytical and experimental results, and an example of structural design. The model consists of two shear resisting mechanisms: before and after the slip at horizontal joints. The results of analysis show that the model gives a reliable evaluation.
