Abstract
The paper presents the concept of application of fuzzy sets theory to the calculation of the stability of ro-ro passenger ferry. Satisfaction of the stability requirements before departure depends on the weights distribution. In service each weight and its centre of gravity co-ordinates forming the load condition is estimated with an inaccuracy. Membership functions which give the best accuracy with real load condition components for different types of vehicles and light ship mass characteristics are considered. These membership functions are intended to be implemented in the fuzzy loading instrument. Examples of fuzzy loading condition components are presented.
