Abstract
The paper presents the economic criteria applied during concept design stage for assessment of the ships and ocean systems alternative designs. The examples of the optimization research results with the economic objective function are presented. The tables and graphs showing the influence of significant parameters of ships and ocean units on their costs attached. The results confirmed the need of applying the global economic criteria to single-and multi-criterial optimization models as well as to traditional design algorithms. Economic assessment is important during performing of the comparative analysis. It lets the designers select the design solutions, which best fulfil economic efficiency requirements. 1 Introduction Ships are technically complex
