Abstract
Historic carpentry joints made as replicas from 300 years old timber using classical tools and technology were investigated experimentally under cyclic loading. Their behaviour is theoretically described by a component method and the finite element approach. The influence of the history of loading and material degradation in elements and connections was studied by introducing the time dependent model of material characteristics and a mechanical model of the connection. Global analysis of historical long span roofing frameworks shows the influence of connection modelling. 1 Introduction Historic timber j
