Abstract
The collapse analysis of the double ogival dome and drum of the basilica of S.Maria of Carignano in Genoa designed by Galeazzo Alessi is carried out on the hypotheses of rigid no-tension material, axisymmetric geometry and ignoring hoop stresses. The analysis is performed by assuming the inner and outer shells to be independent, with the exception of the impost and the lantern, and considering the case of collapse mechanisms of the dome and of the dome-drum system separately.
