Abstract
On the basis of the rapid development of computer and software, economical and intelligent technologies for documentation and surveying of historical buildings were developed. The experience from projects such as the Frauenkirche Dresden, the cathedrale of Siena, the palace of Gustrow ore the castle of Tirol shows that different methods should be used for a high quality and economy of the results. Because of the expensive investments often involved today, surveying is in most cases handled by specialists.
