Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine optimal arrangement of the base- isolated devices using the Genetic Algorithm. For the optimal arrangement of the devices, we used the following four criteria: (i) the eccentricity between the center of gravity of the upper structure and the center of stiffness of the base- isolated layer; (ii) the natural period of the base-isolated layer; (iii) the vertical load on each isolator; and (4) the damping of each base-isolated layer.
