Abstract
The archaeological clearance of the rubble of the Church of our Lady in Dresden W. Jager, D. Rosenkranz Germany ABSTRACT The following deals with the history of one of the most important domed buildings, from the beginning of its construction, on to its completion, and up to its collapse after the devasting bomb attacks on Dresden at the end of the Second World War. At the beginning of this year work was started on clearing the rubble which had lain virtually untouched in the centre of Dresden for 48 years. In deference to the building sponsor's desire that the church be reconstructed in keeping with its original structure and appearance, the work clearing the piles of rubble is carried out along archaeological principles. Time scheduling up to now has allotted 18 months to complete this task.
