Abstract
The provision and the use of road transport have various environmental impacts, some being quantifiable, others not. Different approaches have been developed over the last years to represent the emission of pollutants and the emission of noise, two important, yet quantifiable impacts. However, most of these approaches are not detailed enough to represent those factors that influence these impacts most: individual driving behaviour, speed and acceleration profiles of single vehicles, drivers' reactions to changes in traffic control etc. Most existing approaches deal with aggregated values, using total flow, mean speeds and sometimes mean acceleration values only.
