Abstract
In this paper we provide an estimate of air pollution costs for Italy. Specifically, we are concerned with the cost of increased premature mortality from exposure to total suspended particulates (TSP). Using the CORENAIR emission estimates, we then calculate the cost of PM10 emissions (a component of TSP) in urban areas per city-size, per vehicle-type and per vehicle-kilometre. 1 Introduction It is a widespread opinion that transport activities should be charged the full marginal cost they impose on society. A component of the full marginal cost is the cost for air pollution externalities, such as the cost of the increased morbidity or premature mortality due to the exposure to transport-related air pol
