Abstract

In this paper the cable-member element model is adopted in nonlinear dynamic analysis of guyed towers. The sensitivity of the motions of guyed towers to the small changes of boundary and initial conditions is investigated. The concept of energy increment map is developed to judge the stability behaviors of guyed towers under earthquake actions. 1 Introduction It is usually recognized that the design of guyed towers is governed by the wind actions. But it is significant and important to understand the stability behaviors of guyed towers under earthquake actions. As the authors know there exist only few reports on the seismic resoponses of guyed towers*. The cable-member element is powerful for nonlinear analysis of guyed towers is cable-member element.
