Abstract
In smart structures the behaviour is controlled by integrated actuators. This concept is specifically useful for high precision spacecraft structures with distortion requirements in the sub-jam range. Investigations in control- structure interaction mainly within the context of precision reflector shape control and ^-vibration attenuation in satellites and precision instruments are adressed. Establishment of and results from mathematical models for simula- tion and optimization are discussed, and experience gained with laboratory models both for shape control and active damping are adressed.
