Abstract

The installation and operation of the Passenger Transfer System at Frankfurt Airport - based on US-American System Technology - required an extensive process of testing and certification to ensure consistency with the German national standards. The paper focuses on measures and organizational structures for a successful certification procedure. After showing the technical and the operation requirements the several authorities for certification and acceptance are named. A specific role is with the Operation Managers BOStrab who are responsible for safety in supplying the system and for operation.
