Abstract
In railway applications such as in other industrial fields, if Product Assurance requirements are specified, the design of each subsystem has to face dependability analysis. In the case of reconfigurable redundant systems with repair actions, such activity may not be performed by utilizing conventional procedures, based on Reliability Block Diagrams and Fault Trees, but innovative methods, such as Markov Chains or Petri Nets, have to be used. Being the latter procedures very difficult to manage as the system complexity increases, the authors present in this paper a simplified hybrid procedure which utilizes both the conventional and the innovative methods, showing its application to the dependability analysis of an Electrical Substa
