Abstract
Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), a decade-long programme cosponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the International Social Science Council (ISSC), and the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), has been developed to address research gaps, siloed approaches to research, and research to policy voids in a transdisciplinary, global approach. This is being implemented through four initiatives – Assessment of Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (AIRDR), Disaster Loss Data (DATA), Forensic Investigations of Disasters (FORIN) and Risk Interpretation and Action (RIA) – each developed to address different aspects of disaster risk research. Keywords: hazard, disaster, risk reduction, science, integration, policy, transdisciplinary, decision making, case studies, data management.
