Abstract

A paper presents results of investigation carried out on quenched and tempered plates, 12 mm in thickness, made of high-strength low-alloy steel grades HHNMBCu (with minimum yield strength 690 MPa) and 10GHMBA (with minimum yield strength 620 MPa). The obtained results show that examined plates and their welded joints meet Det Norske Veritas' (DNV) requirements for marine constructions. Susceptibility to cold cracking of tested steels was evaluated eventually. 1 Introduction Advanced marine constructions, like navy ships, tankers and offshore platforms require high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) weldable steels for weight reduction.
