Abstract
Newly developed non-alloyed steel, which only after the normalising of completed chain cable comply the requirements of IACS for the mechanical properties and CVNE of grade 3 ship anchor chain cables, was presented. 1 Introduction Ship Classification Societies have issued special regulations where the requirements for steelmakeing process (including deoxidation and grain refinement procedure), chemical composition, mechanical properties and CVN impact toughness of the rolled round steel bars intended for the chain cables were defined. In these regulations also heat treatment of finished grade 3 ship chain cables, mechanical properties and CVN impact toughness of their base material and flash butt welds were defined. In the traditional technology these requireme
