Abstract
A new small shipyard-oriented version of the ASTER system B. Cyperling, J. Juranek, M. Olejniczak Summary Small shipyards and ship design organizations which cannot afford to buy comprehensive CAD/CAM systems often use a combination of standard software tools like AutoCad, MegaCad, LogoCad etc.. This is a time consuming way of preparing the ship production documentation The paper outlines a proposed hull design and preparation process in small shipyards, practical examples of the ASTER v.3.1 applications and a few words on the hardware requirements for a single station or LAN. 1 Introduction The ASTER system development started in 1969, its Version 1 was used by the Gdynia and Gdansk shipyards Version 2 was developed in the 1970s and, constantly upgraded, was used until the mid 1980s in four largest Polish yards In 1986 version 3.0 was released and, again upgraded all the time, has been in use in 6 Polish shipyards.
