Abstract
A boundary element subregioning scheme for plate bending analysis J.L. Wearing & O. Bettahar Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, University of Sheffield, UK ABSTRACT This paper discusses the use of subregioning within the Regular Direct Boundary Element Method for the analysis of plate bending problems. Two case studies are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the technique. These are a simply supported square plate and a simply supported rectangular plate with a length to breadth ratio of four. Each plate was analysed without subregions and with subregions and results of displacement, bending moment and shear force for these analyses are included in the paper. The results were compared with analytical results and the results without and with subregioning for the square plate were in close agreement with the analytical results. In the case of the rectangular plate the results with subregioning were in closer agreement with the analytical results than the r
