Abstract
Keynote Address The analog equation method - a powerful BEM-based solution technique for solving linear and nonlinear engineering problems J.T. Katsikadelis Department of Civil Engineering, National Technical Greece ABSTRACT A novel BEM-based method for solving boundary value problems arising in engineering discipline is presented. The actual problem governed by a linear differential operator, which is difficult to invert, or by a non-linear one is converted into an equivalent problem described by a linear differential operator whose integral representation can be readily established. The equation of the substitute problem is designated as the Analog Equation. Hence the name Analog Equation Method (AEM). The method incorporates features and advantages of FDM, FEM and BEM. Several numerical examples are presented which illustrate the range of applicability of the proposed method as well as its efficiency, acc
