Sugino^ ^Department of Mathematical Engineering, College of Industrial Technology, Nihon University, Narashino, Chiba, 275, Japan ^Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kisarazu National College of Technology, Kisarazu, Chiba, 292, Japan ABSTRACT In this paper applicability of BEM to various kinds of moving bound- ary problems in natural science and engineering is discussed. Especially, Laplacian growth phenomena are considered in detail. The problems to be discussed are crystal growth and Hele-Shaw flow in Laplacian growth phenomena. Pattern formations in ice crystal growing and viscous finger- ing from small initial disturbance in a rectangular region are analyzed by the solution procedure.
