Abstract
Two dimensional lagrangian simulations of the free surface motion in a periodic domain G. Riccardi, C. Golia Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, Second University of Naples, Italy Abstract Numerical simulations of the free surface dynamics in an incompressible inviscid fluid are carried out by integrating the Euler equations in Lagrangian form. The present work faces a preliminar analysis of the link between pressure field and free surface motion, with the final aim to investigate the use of a conformal mapping technique, to simulate the free surface dynamics. 1 Introduction The free surface dynamics is a relevant issue, specially in the framework of the naval engineering. It plays a crucial role in evaluating the wave component of the drag acting on a ship, or the hydrodynamics loads experienced during the impact of a solid body and the surface. In particular, this second kind of flow has been deeply investigated in Literature, both from the theoretical (see, for example, [I]
