Abstract
A formulation and numerical examples are presented for scattering waves in an elastic layered medium. The scattering waves are caused by a scattering object and a plane incident wave. The formulation is carried out by introducing the boundary integral equation method and the complete eigenfunction expansion form of the Green’s function developed by the author. The advantage of the present method is in that the formulation itself is independent, of the number of layers. In addition, the scattering waves can be decomposed into the surface wave modes for the layered wave field, which enables us to investigate properties of the scattering waves in terms of the surface wave modes.
