Abstract
The paper deals with non-classical utilization of Trefftz functions in numerical solution of boundary value problem. The accuracy of various computational methods and approximation alternatives are investigated m numerical experiments for two dimensional potential problem. The Trefftz functions are employed for approximation of two conjugated boundary densities locally on finite size boundary segments. The expansion coefficients are computed either by collocation of prescribed boundary conditions or by using standard singular BIE. The other application of Trefftz functions is their use as weight functions in BIE. Then the boundary densities are approximated by using standard conforming boundary elements.
