Abstract
Impact dynamic behavior of the rigid impactor on the lead target Y.S. Lee', K.H. Kang*, S.K. Chung" *Chungnam National University, Taejon, Korea ^Agency for Defense Development, Korea Abstract Impact dynamic behavior of the rigid impactor is studied both experimentally and numerically on impact velocity range from 33m/s to 93m/s. Two types of impactors - hemispherical and conical - are used on the test and experimental results are compared with the numerical calculation using the AUTODYN code. As a result, deceleration - time histories of impactors increase with the increasing of impact velocity in the peak value and duration time. Numerical results by the AUTODYN code generally agree with experimental results. The characteristics of deceleration - time curves of the impactors differ from each other according to the shape of impacting surface. A half sine wave pulse is generated in the hemispherical impactor and a triangular wave pulse in the conical impactor. 1 Introdu
