Abstract
Flow past multiple connected plates J.C. Bruch, Jr. Department of Mechanical and Environmental Engineering and Department of Mathematics, University of California, USA Abstract The free streamline problem investigated is that of fluid flow past multiple connected plates between walls. An open wake or cavity is formed behind the profile. Conformal mapping techniques are used to solve this problem. The resulting problem formulated in the hodograph plane is a fixed domain problem in which the free streamline becomes a straight line. The numerical solution scheme used is a successive over-relaxation approach. Numerical results are obtained for the case of a symmetric three plate profile. These results will be compared with analytical results obtained using the Schwarz-Christoffel transformation. Also, a discussion is presented showing how the problem formulations and solution approaches vary as the profile changes from being described by straight lines to a smooth curve, e
