Abstract
This paper describes the solution of steady natural convection problems in porous media by the dual reciprocity boundary element method. The solu- tion of coupled mass, momentum, and energy equations in two-dimensions is structured by the fundamental solution of the Laplace equation, straight line geometry and discontinuous quadratic field boundary elements. The dual reciprocity method is based on augmented thin plate splines. Solu- tions are shown for natural convection in a rectangular cavity with Darcy, Forchheimer, and Brinkman porous media. 1 Introduction and Motivation The disposal of radioactive wastes in geological formations is of great tech- nological importance.
