Abstract
The paper evaluates the characteristics of Fourier transform using the wave- lets which are important for analysis of the frequency content of time pro- cesses. Some shortcomings of these methods manifest themselves particu- larly in the analysis of non-stationary processes and the processes produced by non-linear systems. Their basic shortcoming, however, is their insuffi- cient ability to describe local characteristics of the frequency content of the process. As particularly the local changes of the dynamic characteristics of the structure may be the sources of information on its state and extent of damage, it is necessary to seek a procedure enabling to acquire detailed knowledge of the frequency content of a time variable pro
