Abstract
The paper presents a methodology for experimental identification of relative coefficients of vibration energy dissipation in contacts of machine tool slideway joints. The coefficients are determined based on hysteresis loops recorded during experimental investigations. With the use of a special procedure for processing static test results the values of these coefficients, related to individual surfaces constituting the joint, are determined. Coefficients of vibration energy dissi- pation can be directly used for modelling viscous or structural damping in the machine tool mass-spring structure in models built of finite elements.
