Abstract
The behaviour of bolted connections is illustrated by an example of an eccentrically loaded joint (T-flange joint) examined through a new analytical model called beam on elastic supports model. The development of this model is described. The additional load and the bending moment induced in the bolt are calculated analytically and the analytical results are in good agreement with the F.E ones that are justified experimentally. A key factor in the analysis is the area in compression of the joint. This model considers the compressed surface between the connected parts as an elastic foundation of constant stiffness but wi
