Abstract
A study to investigate the use of MRI for unsteady flow measurements has been made. Conventional MRI flow studies can give images, which lead to an overestimation of the length of stenosis. This is due to the flow disturbed by the stenosis. However the authors believed that the flow downstream of a stenosis might be a periodic flow rather than fully turbulent flow. The flow with Karman vortex sheet is chosen to demonstrate the capability of MRI to capture periodic flows. The results are compared with flow visualisation experiments, Computational Fluid Dynamics and analytical results. They all agree well and
