Abstract
The transferability of results obtained on the small pre-cracked Charpy specimens is studied and the method of the master curve (MC) is applied for the cast low carbon manganese steel. The large (IT) specimen is required for determining the reference transition temperature, TO, which is taken as a basic material characteristic positioning the MC on the temperature axis. Additionally, the small pre-cracked Charpy type specimens have been used for determining the fracture transition behaviour and for measurement of fracture toughness.
