Abstract
Submerged breakwaters are recently well employed in coastal zones to protect the seashore from waves since they are superior to offshore breakwaters in landscape designing. Permeable submerged breakwaters require estimation of coefficients of fluid resistance in porous media to determine transmission and reflection coefficients of waves. For this purpose we apply the inverse analysis by combining least squares method with boundary element method. The least squares method can be applied to obtain normal equations after deriving observation equations by the boundary element method. The complex transmission and reflection coefficients were studied numerically for
