Abstract

This paper presents a boundary element method for solving the Stokes prob- lem in the vorticity formulation and for low viscosity (i.e. for high Reynolds numbers). First, one recalls how the problem can be solved by an exact integral equation. Unfortunately, this method becomes numerically unsta- ble for low viscosity. Hence an asymptotic analysis has been developed : the initial integral equation is replaced by an asymptotic equation which is much easier to compute and to solve. Finally a numerical illustration is presented. 1 Introduction Let O be a connected domain of K?. F denotes the boundary of 17, n the exterior normal vector of F and r_ the tangential vector ((n, r) is direct). F is s
