Abstract

This paper presents a simple formulation of the wave generation problem by impulse deformation of the sea bottom. The hydrodynamics problem is separated into three value problems: two of them are time-independent problems of an impulse deformation of the bottom for unmoving free surface and of given vertical velocity of the free surface for unmoving bottom, the other one is a time-dependent problem of free boundary deformation for the unmoving bottom. All these problems have been investigated numerically using the Boundary Element Method. For comparison, the first two problems are solved analytically. 1 Introduction A wave generation on the free surface by bottom movings connects with one of the destroying natural phenomens known as tsunami. Tsunami waves have at first comparatively not a large amplitude, that's why, it is diffic
