Abstract
This paper presents a model for the numerical simulation of the ice-on-coil storage tank. The axial and tangential convection mean coefficients for the coils were calculated based upon available formulas. The model presented are pure conduction based models. The operational and geometrical parameters were investigated and discussed. 1 Introduction Two basic forms of cold storage have been intensively investigated and widely used, namely sensible storage and latent heat storage. The second method is more preferred due to the high energy density and consequently the small effective volume occupied by the phase change material.
