Abstract
A new nonmarching time treatment is presented for the solution of nonlin- ear weakly-singular, partial integro-differential equations of the type that appear in transient, conductive and radiative transport. While conven- tional methods utilize time-marching schemes for the numerical analysis of transient problems, the present concept simultaneously resolves the entire space-time domain. As a means of demonstration, the problem of transient cooling in an absorbing-emitting participating medium is ex- amined. This model serves as an excellent example since it illustrates the methodology and its salient features without undue complication to ei- ther the physics or mathematics.
