Abstract
A new iterative boundary element formulation, the Multiscalar Boundary Element Method (MBEM), is described. It is formulated for electromag- netic scattering problems with general three-dimensional geometry, finite target conductivity, and finite host conductivity. This paper gives the formulation of the new method and shows some encouraging numerical re- sults. 1 Introduction The Multiscalar Boundary Element Method (MBEM) is a new iterative boundary element formulation for general three-dimensional geometry, fi- nite target and host conductivities electromagnetic scattering problems. In this approach, a general vector electromagnetic scattering problem is reduced into a set of three coupled scalar Helmholtz scattering problems, one for each of the three Cartesian components of the magnetic field H. The key issue in this approach is how to define the appropriate bound-
