Abstract
The performance of applications on Object Oriented Database Management Systems (OODBMSs) is strongly affected by Distributed Design, which reduces irrelevant data accessed by applications and data exchange among sites. In an OO environment, the Distributed Design is a very complex task, and an open research problem. In this work we propose a knowledge based approach to the fragmentation phase of the distributed design of object oriented databases. In this approach, we will show a rule-based implementation of an analysis algorithm from our previous work and propose some ideas towards the use of Inductive Logic Programming (ILP) to perform a knowledge discovery/revisi
