Abstract
The purpose of the paper is to represent a possible way how a case study carried out during a software engineering course can submit to new knowledge in a field. The course we are considering is a part of educational program from the field of analysis of industrial control systems. We have established an approach, called autoreproduction, in which the case study has research and educational role. Some related problems and solutions are discussed as well as an example of real case study autoreprodustion process. 1 Introduction The Department of Computer Automation and Control is an independent unit within the Jozef Stefan Institute, the largest research and development institute in Slovenia. Until recently, the Institute was formally a part of the University of Ljubljana and thus it was also active in the domain of education. Current
