Abstract
Generally speaking, light weight design has been specifically requested for various kinds of construction-machine parts in view of saving energy and cost reduction. In particular the circular-digging bucket has enabled one to dig a circle in the ground by rotating the bucket. However, the increase in weight of an added rotation system becomes a considerable problem, that is, it causes unbalancing between the front and rear parts of the construction machine during operation. In this research, the authors have tried to decrease the weight of a circular-digging medium-size bucket as far as possible whilst keeping reliability. The main results obtained
