Abstract
The method of measuring machine tool positioning accuracy is specified by the IS0230-2; Determination of accuracy and repeatability of positioning of numerically controlled machine tool axes. Various parameters that quantify machine tool positioning conditions are specified in this test code, such as A, B, R, E and M. These parameters have been used since the code was published in 1988. However, few specialists understand the relationship between these variables. Ths paper highlights these relationshps and reports statistical analysis results based on the test results of nearly 100 NC machining centers. The results indicate the behavior of rnachne tools actually used on the shop floor.
