Abstract
This paper discusses the structure of geometric elements of a workpiece and the different tolerancing possibilities. The example of bore groups is used to demonstrate an efficient measuring and computation process - the virtual gauging process. Conclusions are given with respect to the further development of geometrical design and tolerancing. 1 Introduction The growing functionality of mechanical parts can lead in the modern manufacturing process to design, manufacture and measurement of parts with numerous features, structured into the following features. Geometrical elements (size, form), features between elements (size, position) and features between groups of elements (position). See fig. 1 for a simple example.
