Abstract
A general method has been developed to compute steady, two-dimensional potential flow about a solid body of arbitrary shape beneath the free surface. Fully nonlinear effects are taken into account using an iterative procedure. Results including wave pattern and pressure distribution are presented for free surface flows over a submerged circular cylinder, and a NACA 0012 hydrofoil for different Froude numbers and depths of submergence. Convergence and accuracy of the numerical method have been examined by comparing results with analytical predictions and experimental data.
