Abstract

Accelerated test for the evaluation of corrosion resistance of nitrided layers G.Kalinowska, A.Nakonieczny & J.Tacikowski Institute of Precision Mechanics, Poland. Abstract Research lias been carried out for years to find accelerated corrosion tests which would differentiate between the corrosion resistance of particular materials in a way most similar to the natural operating conditions. The NSS test (5% NaCl, 35°C, 24h) is the most often used. In the opinion of many authors, it does not represent, however, the conditions of atmospheric corrosion. During the research the usability of the Prohesion tests, considered by many as more similar to the natural conditions (0.05% NaCl + 0.35% (NH^SO,), has been checked in two versions - cyclic and continuous.
