Abstract
An efficient and fast method to identify the in-plane complex (or dynamic) moduli of thin orthotropic plates, has been developed at the VUB (Free University of Brussels). The method is a good example of how a mixed numerical experimental approach makes it possible to obtain a relatively large set of material properties from simple and reliable dynamic measurements. These dynamic measurements are the resonant frequencies and the modal damping ratios of a set of eigenmodes of beam and plate specimens. In combination with a numerical model of the specimen, it is possible to derive from
