Abstract
One of the most important aspects of the turbine technology is the use of coatings on rotating blades to reduce hot corrosion problems and on combustion chamber to increase gas temperature. To obtain a fast methodology to test thermal shock/fatigue resistance of coatings a new laser thermal shock system was developed in CISE-ENEL and, at the same time, a numerical simulation of the cycling has been carried out. The aim of the activity is to make a residual life evaluation for a two layers material, by means of the calculation of thermomechanical fatigue damage. Two layered specimens have been studied under thermal shock condition imposed by a laser beam. The calculation has been performed at first on a single layer material specimen to test the temperature values obtained by the calculation with the experimental ones; the second step
