Abstract
A crack closure problem is formulated to be a complementarity problem using the dual boundary element method. The dual boundary element method is used to allow for the solution to a general mixed mode crack problem with a single regional formulation. The frictional contact problem on the crack surface is formulated with the complementarity problem adapting the Coulomb's friction law. Two examples are shown to demonstrate the validity of the present procedure. 1. Introduction Contact fracture mechanics has received some attention over the years in analytical, experimental and numerical studies[l]. Most of the numer
