Abstract
This study has been conducted to further the influence of some alloying elements and of microstructure on the behaviour to stress corrosion by hydrogen of Al-Li alloy matrix composite.Silicon carbide whisker (SiCw) reinforced Al - Li - Mg - Cu - Zr alloy composites were made using P/M technique. Microstructural development subject to controlled and systematic aging treatments was investigated using analytical transmission electron microscopy and matrix microhardness measurements. The hydrogen embrittlement tests carried out a temperature of 22 + 1°C and the hydrogen was intruduced into the material with the cathodic load procedure, using an aqueous solution 0.04 N HC1 in contact with the atmosphere. The hydrogen time charge it was of 2 hours with a current density value about 10 mA cm'2. The fractures
